So Camus thought that people should think about death in order to make their lives more meaningful. To him, witnessing an execution shocks one into the present. I completely agree. Even though it's a clichee, people never realize what they have until it's gone. . . .or unless someone seriously threatens to take it away.
I agree with what he wrote. People don't realize what they truly have until it's gone.Or say you are in love with something and all of a sudden says that is mine now. You would be heart broken.
While the execution giving insight in to what we have is true, I think it is an extreme example. Just seeing what could happen and what others have found has had an impact on me.
I think that seeing what this life of ours can be and how it can cease gives true apprecation.
i do not agree with Camus's point of view. He thought thinking about death made life more meaningful. I choose not to spend a great amount of time thinking about death. death is inevitable, so live life to its fullest do what you want and have fun. Thinking abut thinks too much can be over-barren and take away form the "joys" of life.
